Chevrolet at the Geneva Motor Show 2012

Europe’s fastest growing mainstream car brand is set to unveil an all-new addition to its line up at the Geneva Motor Show later this month.

The Station Wagon model represents the latest body style of Chevrolet’s most popular global model, the Cruze, and complements the
saloon and hatchback versions. Together, these have achieved combined sales across the world of over one-million since the saloon variant debuted in 2009.

"The Cruze Station Wagon caters to an important market segment. It ticks all the boxes for European drivers in terms of distinctive design, dynamic driving, space and economy," said Chevrolet Europe President and Managing Director Susan Docherty.

It features generous storage space and a choice of powerful and efficient engines, including a new 130 bhp 1.7-litre VCDi diesel engine, with start-stop technology as standard and CO2 emissions of 119 g/km.

At 4,678 mm, the Station Wagon is slightly longer than the hatchback (4,510 mm) and saloon (4,597 mm) models. Load space ranges from 500-litres up to the window line in the rear to nearly 1,500-litres up to the roof top with the rear seats folded down. Prices and full UK specification will be announced closer to the car’s on sale date, in autumn this year.

Meanwhile, the show will also see the European debut of the TRU 140S and CODE 130R sports car concepts, based on the Cruze platform, both of which were penned by British stylists. The TRU 140S is a two-door sports car and was the work of Welshman Nicholas David, an alumnus of the Royal College of Art in London, while the CODE 130R, a two-door four seater coupe, was designed by Joe Baker, who studied car design at Coventry University.

The cars were designed using ‘crowd-sourcing’ – effectively taking input from young drivers and teenagers about what they would like to see in a car, with much of the information gathered via social media. Both Nicholas and Joe will be at the show throughout its public opening, looking for further ideas and guidance from young visitors.

Chevrolet will also use the Geneva show to demonstrate MyLink – its new infotainment platform, which will go on to appear in future Chevrolet models.
