Nissan Primastar and Navara come to Kavanagh Motor Group’s rescue

A Croydon based recovery company is taking delivery of a fleet of Nissan Primastar panel vans and Navara pick-ups to help it rescue motorists whose cars have broken down across the south of England.

Kavanagh Motor Group has purchased 100
Primastar 2,900 long
wheelbase, low roof vans powered by the 115 ps turbo diesel engine and eight Navara 2.5 turbo diesel double cab pick ups to service its contracts with the major breakdown and recovery companies.

The Nissan fleet will work across London, the Home Counties and Kent and is in the front line to respond to a stranded motorists’ call for help 24-hours a day, seven days a week and is set to cover on average 50,000 miles per annum over a three to four year period.

The Primastar becomes the mainstay of the Kavanagh breakdown and recovery fleet and is equipped with a range of diagnostic equipment aimed at getting the car fixed by the roadside. If this isn’t possible the van carries towing gear to get the vehicle and its driver recovered to their local dealer fast and efficiently.

The 4x4 Navara double cab Teknas provide valuable support to the Primastar fleet attending breakdowns in more remote areas of the countryside, as well as assisting with wheel changes and jump starting vehicles with flat batteries.

“The long wheelbase Primastar offers a good combination of driver comfort, a good load area and its low roof enables us to reach stranded motorists in multi storey car parks,” explained Kieron Kavanagh, MD of the Kavanagh Motor Group.

“Its towing weight of 2,000 kg enables us to recover most cars and we are anticipating fuel economy of around mid thirties which is acceptable on this multi-use work,” he added.

Meanwhile the 4x4 Navara double cab pick ups have already been earning their keep during the recent wintry weather.

“The recent snowfall meant the Navaras were working flat out as they were able to access motorists in the most difficult of locations because of their four wheel drive capability. Having access to two different types of Nissan vehicles means we can handle virtually any type of breakdown and recovery situation that confronts us,” said Kavanagh.
