Aston Barclay makes company history!

There was another successful coup for Aston Barclay Group, after its Chelmsford auction house sold one of the rarest supercars in the world.

One of only 250 ever built - making it rarer than a Bugatti Veyron, the fastest production car on the planet - the Spyker C8 Spyder
was bought by a Dorset-based businessman for £83,000.

“We were extremely privileged to be asked to auction the Spyker. I don’t believe we have had such a rare car come into our auction rooms and as you can imagine, there was enormous interest in the car from both genuine bidders and enthusiasts,” said David Scarborough, Aston Barclay's Commercial Director.

He added, “Because of its rarity, there are no official guide prices to work with so we had to believe in our buyers. The bidding opened up at £60,000 and the price continued to rise with bids coming in thick and fast from buyers in the hall and Live internet bidders around the country. As soon as the hammer fell, I had a call from the vendor who was delighted.”

Registered in 2007, the Spyker was number 175 of 250 ever built, it had covered less than 5,000 miles and is capable of 0-62 mph in little over four seconds and has a 190 mph top speed. When new, it would have been sold for in excess of £195,000.
