Jurgen Stackmann to lead Marketing at Volkswagen Group and Volkswagen Passenger Cars

Jurgen Stackmann (50) is to lead Marketing at the Volkswagen Group and the Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand effective September 1, 2012. He succeeds Luca de Meo (44), who becomes the Board of Management member for Sales and Marketing at Audi with effect
from the same date. In his new function, Stackmann reports to Christian Klingler, member of the Volkswagen Group Board of Management for Sales and Marketing.


Jurgen Stackmann qualified as a bank clerk and holds a degree in business administration. He joined the Volkswagen Group in 2010 as member of the Board of Management responsible for Sales and Marketing at Skoda Auto a.s. Stackmann began his professional career with Ford in 1989, where he held various responsibilities in Germany and the UK, including Marketing Director for German plants, Vice-President Marketing at Ford Europe in London and finally General Manager Sales and Marketing for German plants. Stackmann joined the Volkswagen Group in July 2012.

Luca de Meo joined the Volkswagen Group in August 2009, taking responsibility for marketing at the Volkswagen brand. In addition to this function, Italian-born de Meo has also been in charge of marketing at the Volkswagen Group since June 2010.

Luca de Meo studied marketing in Milan and subsequently began his career in the automobile industry, first holding various responsibilities at Renault, then at Toyota Motor Europe. In 2002, de Meo moved to the Fiat Group, where he headed marketing at the Lancia brand. One year later he became Vice-President of Lancia. He was appointed Chairman of the board of management of the Fiat Automobiles S.p.A. brand in 2004. De Meo became the board member for marketing at the Fiat Group in September 2007 and was also appointed CEO of the Alfa Romeo brand in December of the same year. In addition, he assumed responsibility for Abarth brand business in March 2007 before leaving the Fiat Group in 2009.
