Michael Nagar Netaji Sangha wins the Yamaha ASEAN Cup U-13 Football title

The final day of the second edition of Yamaha ASEAN Cup U-13 came to a thrilling end with Michael Nagar Netaji Sangha emerging as the champions. Displaying some terrific football skills, the club defeated Durbar Mahila Samanwaya Committee by 4 -2 goals during the
final which was held at Mohammedan Sporting Club here in Kolkata. Ashraf Ul Ali Mondal - Michael Nagar Netaji Sangha was adjudged the Best Player of the tournament. The event was graced by Yamaha representatives – Hiroyuki Suzuki, CEO and MD, Jun Nakata- Director – Sales and Marketing, and Roy Kurian, National Business Head. Present from IFA were Honorary Secretary U.K. Ganguli and other senior officials.

Yamaha organised the second edition of the tournament in association with The Indian Football Association (West Bengal). The tournament was held from May 16-20, 2012 and witnessed participation from budding football enthusiast from West Bengal. Michael Nagar Netaji Sangha will now be representing India Yamaha Motor at the fourth Yamaha ASEAN Cup U-13 Football Finals to be held in Malaysia from July 13, 2012 to July 15, 2012. The participants will comprise of 6 teams from 5 Asian countries namely- India, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam & Malaysia (x2 teams).

I would also like to take this opportunity to extend my appreciation and well wishes for the other teams for their participation and wish them luck for their future endeavors. The tournament has witnessed a keen interest in the game and a lot of potential talent has been discovered in these five days. I wish Michael Nagar Netaji Sangha all the very best for their upcoming international challenge and hope they do us proud,” said Hiroyuki Suzuki.

U.K. Ganguli expressed his sincere appreciation to Yamaha for selecting Kolkata as a venue and gave his full co-operation to make the event a success. He also expressed strong hope for such tournament to generate football talents and thanked Yamaha for their initiative.
