Yamaha kicks-off its Second Season of ASEAN Cup U-13 Football in India

After the success of the first season of the Yamaha ASEAN Cup U-13 Football in India last year, India Yamaha Motor is back with its second edition of the ASEAN cup U-13 football in association with The Indian Football Association (West Bengal) (IFA).
The tournament will be held from May 16-20, 2012 at Mohammedan Sporting Club, Esplanade and will witness participation from budding footballers from West Bengal.

The Qualifying round of the tournament will include 6 matches amongst 6 teams from West Bengal, India. This will be followed by 4 semi-final matches. The winning teams from the preliminary round will then compete for the final round on the May 20, 2012.

The Winning team of this tournament will then represent India Yamaha Motor football team at the fourth Yamaha ASEAN Cup U-13 Football Finals to be held in Malaysia from July 13-15, 2012.  There will be 6 teams from 5 Asian countries namely- India, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam & Malaysia (x2 teams).

U.K. Ganguli, Hony. Secretary of IFA expressed his sincere appreciation to Yamaha for selecting Kolkata as a venue and assured full co-operation to make the event a success. Ganguli also expressed strong hope for such tournament to generate football talents and thank Yamaha for their initiative.

“We have chosen Kolkata as the nerve center since it has been contributing to the game for more than 100 years now. It is the hub of Indian football with 75 registered clubs across the city. It has the distinction of holding more than 150 coaching camps and conducting 1400 matches per year. It is also home to some of the greatest football clubs India has ever seen and produced some equally great football legends.” he added.
