Women Car Rally 2013 to flag-off with over 50 teams

The 5th edition of the Women Car Rally 2013 from New Delhi to Rishikesh will feature approximately 50-70 participant teams. Starting from March 29 to March 31, 2013, the rally has been formulated under the aegis of Team I Sports the 3-day rally will keenly seek to highlight
core concerns including safety, women empowerment, and breast cancer.

This unique campaign of fun adventure sport, competition and Serious messages concerning today's society has seen support from an ideal mix of professional rally drivers alongside volunteers.

Teams, consisting of a women driver and a navigator, attempts to travel the specified route at exactly the specified speeds. The Rally is a Time Speed Distance (TSD) event that comprises a set of instructions specifying a route to travel, and a speed at which to travel (the speed would not exceed the maximum permissible speed for that road). The team is scored on how closely to the correct time they arrive.

It shall be executed under the directions and watchful eyes of Federation of Motorsports Clubs of India (FMSCI), the Indian counterpart of Federation Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA). It will be a perfect combination of Women empowerment and emancipation as it gives women an opportunity to compete on the road through specified routes, speed calculations and spreading the message for taking care of their own health all together.

The rally is open to both male and female participants. However, the wheel should be in the hands of a female only and an all women team would be given incentives while deciding the winner.

The rally would be passing through picturesque countryside. It also frisks Rajaji National Park,  famous for its large number of Elephants. This would help participants understand the on ground state of affairs and also help in bringing forth the issue to the nearby villages.

Schedule for the rally
March 28 - Scrutiny of all the participating cars and drivers briefing session in Hard Rock Cafe, and ceremonial flag-off at DLF Place, Saket, New Delhi
March 29 - Rally would be flagged-off early morning from DLF Place Saket, New Delhi to Rishikesh. The route will be passing through the picturesque landscape of the vicinity of Rajaji National Park
March 30 - Rally would be flagged-off again for day 2 from Haridwar and and the rally would be over around afternoon
March 31st - Prize distribution and closing ceremony will be held in Himalayan Hospital, Jolly Grant
