More than one-million Skodas build in China

Skoda Auto is on the path of success in China. Since the Czechs arrived on the Chinese market six years ago, more than a million Skodas have rolled-off the production lines at the Shanghai Volkswagen's (SVW) plant - Skoda's production partner. Skoda has had a share of
around 10 per cent of a total 10,000,000 cars produced there since 1983. In the coming years, Skoda intends to further increase their sales in China. For this, the car maker is doubling the range of products manufactured in the country and gained new production capacity.

"Skoda cars are arriving in China," said Skoda CEO Prof. Dr. h.c. Winfried Vahland. "We have hit the million mark with only three models sold in the country. With the expansion of our product range and increased capacity, we will continue to grow in China in the coming years."

The new SVW plant in Ningbo, Southern China took on the production at the end of October. The first model to roll-off the production line was the Skoda Superb. Skoda currently produces five models in partnership with Shanghai Volkswagen; alongside the Superb in Ningbo, the Skoda Fabia, Rapid, Octavia and Yeti are produced at the SVW plants in Anting und Yizheng. In 2014, the new Skoda Octavia and Rapid Spaceback are to follow.
