Tata Motors reports 24 per cent down in May sales

Tata Motors' total sales (including exports) of Tata commercial and passenger vehicles in May 2014 were 37,525 vehicles, a decline of 24 per cent over 49,304 vehicles sold in May 2013. The company's domestic sales of Tata commercial and passenger vehicles for May 2014
were 34,334 vehicles, 24 per cent decline over 45,430 vehicles. sold in May last year.

Cumulative sales (including exports) for the company for the fiscal are 71,417 vehicles, lower by 29 per cent over 100,483 vehicles, sold last year.


Sales of commercial vehicles in May 2014 in the domestic market were 25,104 vehicles, a 27 per cent decline compared to 34,296 vehicles sold in May last year. LCV sales were 15,991 vehicles, a decline of 34 per cent over May last year, while M&HCV sales stood at 9,113 vehicles, a decline of 10 per cent over May last year.

Cumulative sales of commercial vehicles in the domestic market for the fiscal was 48,333 vehicles, lower by 31 per cent over last year. Cumulative LCV sales was30,795 vehicles, a decline of 39 per cent over last year, while M&HCV sales stood at 17,538 vehicles, lower by 13 per cent over last year.


Sales of passenger vehicles for May 2014 were at 9,230 vehicles, lower by 17 per cent over 11,134 vehicles sold in May 2013. Sales of the Nano/Indica/Indigo range in May 2014 were 6,932 vehicles, lower by 22 per cent over 8,927 vehicles sold in May 2013. The Sumo/Safari/Aria/Venture range sales were 2,298 vehicles, a growth of 4 per cent over 2,207 vehicles, sold in May last year.

Cumulative sales of passenger vehicles in the domestic market for the fiscal are 16,671 vehicles, lower by 27 per cent over last year. Cumulative sales of the Nano/Indica/Indigo range this fiscal was 12,585 vehicles, lower by 29 per cent over 17,845 vehicles sold, over last year. The Sumo/Safari/Aria/Venture range sales stood at 4,086 vehicles, 16 per cent decline over 4,859 vehicles, sold last year.

Sales from exports were 3,191 vehicles in May 2014, registered a decline of 18 per cent compared to 3,874 vehicles in May last year. The cumulative sales from exports for the fiscal at 6,413 vehicles,was lower by 14 per cent over 7,439 vehicles, over last year.
