Caterham SP/300.R customers climb aboard

As Caterham’s 300 bhp SP/300.R sports prototype nears completion, customers will get the chance to put the new car through its paces for the first time on Thursday, March 1.

The supercharged racer, created in partnership with Lola Cars, will sit alongside the
legendary Seven in Caterham’s product portfolio, remaining true to its lightweight, minimalist DNA to deliver thrilling performance.

Bearing subtle design cues from the Seven, Caterham’s new car replicates the Company’s core motorsport values of affordability, reliability and accessibility.

Prospective customers and those who have already paid deposits will be able to climb aboard the SP/300.R for the first time at Rockingham Motor Speedway on Thursday, just a few days after Caterham F1 driver, Heikki Kovalainen, gave it a shakedown in Jerez, Spain, during a pre-season Formula 1 test.

“The SPR is very quick and a little like a formula car in that I could feel the downforce working and giving it lots of grip and balance. It was great fun to be able to give it a blast in Jerez and I look forward to testing Caterham’s road and race cars more often," said Kovalainen.

Simon Lambert, Caterham Motorsport Manager, said, “We can’t wait to see how our customers react to the SP/300.R, it’s a real thrill to drive and very engaging so we know they’ll love it.

“These coming weeks are the culmination of a massive effort from a big team of people and we are very close to achieving our objective, so it’s very exciting for everybody involved. Over the coming months, there will be numerous opportunities for people to experience the SP/300.R.”
