Climate week sponsorship driven by Nissan

Nissan is to sponsor the most important fixture in the eco calendar, Climate Week.

Running from 12-18 March, Climate Week is the biggest climate change campaign in the UK and is backed by the Prime Minister and Sir Paul McCartney.

The sponsorship sees
Nissan, manufacturer of the 100 per cent electric Leaf, announced as the official vehicle partner and it will support the organisation’s annual Climate Week awards and Climate Week Challenge.

“Climate Week is Britain’s biggest climate change campaign, inspiring a new wave of action to create a sustainable future. We’re delighted to support such an influential week of action which fits perfectly with our mission to help drive change,” said Jim Wright, Managing Director of Nissan GB.

Kevin Steele, Climate Week’s Founder, added, “We’re immensely pleased to announce that Nissan has become a Supporting Partner of Climate Week.   Nissan shares Climate Week’s aim of a sustainable, low-carbon future.  We look forward to working together to accelerate action on climate change.”

The Nissan Leaf, which scooped the titles European Car of the Year and World Car of the Year in 2011 alongside the 2011 What Car? Low Carbon Award, is available at 32 Nissan dealerships across the UK.  This number will rise to around 150 by the end of 2012, ahead of the Leaf going into production in the UK.

The company is also funding a nationwide network of rapid chargers, which allow electric vehicles such as the Leaf to receive an 80 per cent charge in less than 30 minutes.

Over half-a-million people attended more than 3,000 Climate Week events in 2011 and this year’s events are set to be bigger and better.
