Ford unveils two cutting-edge mobile apps at Mobile Asia Expo

Ford Motor Company, Asia Pacific and Africa, is sharing its vision for integrating mobile phone apps into the customer journey, unveiling two cutting-edge programs at the Mobile Asia Expo, a thought-leadership Conference for senior mobile professionals.

"As part of our vision, Ford believes mobile devices will be a defining part of the shopping and ownership experience" said Dave Sanabria, Director, Marketing Communications, Ford Asia Pacific and Africa.

"We want to make sure all of this is simpler, fun and something which will enhance the overall experience. In the future, the mobile phone will become the key to the car, the guide to the car, and the portal to a great experience," he added.

With mobile serving as the 'first screen' for our customers, the Ford SYNC app allows customers to learn about the in-car connectivity system in a fun and interactive way. Through a simulator game, owners will learn all the features as they are challenged to practice SYNC commands and processes, such as asking for an SMS to be read out loud, calling friends and family, and using the radio. Users can earn badges, which can then be shared on various social media platforms. The app also provides a step-by-step user guide for navigating the SYNC system for the first time.

The Ford Focus app will give customers a chance to experience the car virtually on their smart phones and tablets, making it easy for them to learn about the vehicle's technology and features. With a large population of first time buyers in Asia Pacific and Africa, this app goes beyond a regular test drive by simulating the advanced features that Focus offers like Active City Stop, delivering a one of a kind experience. Users can share their achievement on social media, which will 'unlock' another city ride so they can experience the Focus in another environment.

The new Ford SYNC and Ford Focus apps will enhance customer experiences for users of the award-winning SYNC system and owners of the new Ford Focus across the region.

As Ford starts rolling out SYNC powered by Microsoft globally in 2012, SYNC customers will be able learn more about the voice-activated system and enjoy its rich and smart features via the new apps, which will be launched first in August in Thailand then across other markets.

The apps are free and will be available in the app store, supporting both Google's Android and Apple's iOS systems.

The Ford Focus is already available in some markets across Asia Pacific and Africa and will be coming to ASEAN and Taiwan later this year.
