Porsche sells 14 per cent more sports cars worldwide in May

In May 2012, Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, boosted its deliveries by 14.1 per cent compared with the same month the year before: the sports car manufacturer delivered 13,331 new cars to customers worldwide. So far this year, Porsche has sold 56,472 vehicles
(+13 per cent).

"In May, we notched up the greatest number of customer deliveries in our company's history," said Bernhard Maier, Member of the Executive Board Sales and Marketing of Porsche AG. “We managed growth especially in the European market – despite the generally downward trend. With the 911, the new Boxster and the Cayenne GTS, we continue our product offensive.”

In May 2012, Porsche posted an increase in all sales regions compared with the same month the year before. With European vehicle sales of 5,232 units, the Stuttgart-based sports car manufacturer achieved an increase of 22.6 per cent compared with May 2011. The German domestic market also contributed its share to the success: total sales of 1,917 vehicles translate into an increase of 24.1 per cent compared with the same month the year before.

The biggest 911 market has traditionally been, and remains, the USA. In the United States, 878 vehicles of the 911 model line were handed over to customers in May. The Stuttgart company delivered 2,693 rear-engine sports cars worldwide (+28.2 per cent). The Panamera’s popularity is also riding high with 2,882 deliveries – an increase of 25.2 per cent compared with May 2011.
