Digital Communication Award for Volkswagen app

At the award ceremony in Berlin, the Digital Communication Awards jury comprising 30 international communications experts praised the creativity, reader-friendliness and intuitive user interface of the iPad app version of the Volkswagen Annual Report 2011. The app
under the motto 'Experience D(r)iversity' debuted this year to complement the printed version of the Annual Report.

"We took a deliberate decision to make our Annual Report a multimedia experience and thus systematically expand the diversity and emotionality of our media offering. The positive echo from users together with this award confirm we are on the right track," said Stephan Gruhsem, General Representative of Volkswagen AG for Group Communications, External Relations and Investor Relations.

The main focus of the iPad app is the magazine section of the Annual Report. Volkswagen brings users interactive insights into the Group's brands and Divisions. Fun elements, background information, films and photo galleries add to the value of the app compared with the print version of the Annual Report. Furthermore, the fully-integrated financial section features a full text search and chapter links that facilitate goal-oriented navigation.

The Digital Communication Award is hosted by the Quadriga University of Applied Sciences and is the second accolade for the Volkswagen Annual Report app. The digital publication won Silver at the Fox Awards in June. The printed version of the Annual Report was this year's winner of the 'Best of Corporate Publishing' Gold Award. The Mainz-based agency 3st kommunikation holds the budget for the printed report and the iPad app.
