Volkswagen Passenger Cars delivers 5.22-million vehicles in period to November/+11.2 per cent

From January to November, the Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand handed over 5.22- (January-November 2011: 4.69; +11.2 per cent) million vehicles to customers worldwide. The brand also recorded a clear increase of 11.5 per cent for the month of November,
delivering 504,800 (November 2011: 453,000) units.

"The Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand has maintained the fast pace in November and recorded a strong increase. We anticipate a new delivery record for the full year, but also expect next year to be challenging," said Christian Klingler, Board Member for Sales and Marketing for the Volkswagen Group and the Volkswagen Passenger Cars.

Volkswagen Passenger Cars kept deliveries on the overall European market stable despite the difficult situation on markets in Southern Europe and handed over 1.58-million units in the period to November, on a par with the prior-year period. While deliveries in Western Europe (excluding Germany) decreased slightly to 782,600 (836,200; -6.4 per cent) units, Central and Eastern Europe recorded a 25.9 per cent increase in the number of vehicles delivered to 246,500 (195,900). Deliveries in Russia continued at a high level, with customers taking possession of 151,400 (104,200; +45.3 per cent) models. In the home market of Germany, Volkswagen Passenger Cars handed over 552,200 (549,300; +0.5 per cent) vehicles to customers in the period to November.

The brand reported encouraging growth outside Europe. In the Asia-Pacific region Volkswagen Passenger Cars grew deliveries by 18 per cent from January to November and handed over 2.12- (1.80) million vehicles to customers. During the same period, 1.92- (1.61; +19.2 per cent) million units were delivered in China (including Hong Kong), the region's largest single market. Sales on the American continent for the period to November were also very encouraging. The brand grew deliveries in the North America region by 25.5 per cent to 563,000 (448,500) vehicles, of which 394,100 (291,900; +35 per cent) were handed over to customers in the United States. In the South America region, deliveries rose by 8.2 per cent to 766,400 (708,200) vehicles, of which 601,100 (542,000; +10.9 per cent) were delivered in Brazil.
