Honda (UK) Motorcycle Chief Steve Martindale retires

Honda (UK) has announced that Steve Martindale, General Manager of Motorcycles is to leave the company after 6 years in his current role and 18 years in Honda's UK car and motorcycle operations.

During his tenure as General Manager of Honda's UK Motorcycle
business, Steve's enthusiasm and passion for Motorcycles has been evident to all that he worked with and his hard work and dedication has been directly responsible for ensuring Honda's current status as market leader.

Steve leaves his position with Honda's UK motorcycle business in excellent health, having helped develop a motivated and successful team in Honda (UK's) motorcycle division as well as a strong and coordinated dealer network.

"Following my ill health last year I have found it increasingly difficult to cope with the stresses and energy required from the General Manager of Honda UK Motorcycles position. Therefore I have decided to take an extended break from business to fully recover and to prepare for new challenges. Having been in the position for 6 years I wanted to thank each and every person in the industry for the support and camaraderie I have enjoyed. Many friendships have been formed in this, the most enjoyable job I have ever had," said Steve Martindale.

"There's no doubt that we have been through a number of changes in those six years, and I'm very proud to say that I feel that Honda dealers are very well placed to face a challenging future. The Dealer Association, composite and a very strong HUK motorcycle team are my favourite achievements. This combined with the best products Honda has produced and in my opinion the best in the industry, means the time is right for me to hand over to someone with the energy and ideas needed for the future," Steve added.

"I would like to thank Steve for his hard work and commitment which has ensured that he retires leaving Honda as the clear No. 1 motorcycle manufacturer in the UK. Steve has achieved a tremendous amount during his time at Honda and became both a close personal friend to many, as well as a highly-valued and respected colleague. We will certainly miss Steve and wish him all the best for the future," said Dave Hodgetts, Managing Director of Honda (UK).

Honda (UK) is expected to make an announcement regarding the new head of Honda's UK motorcycle operations within the next week.
