Nissan announces Jean Pierre Diernaz as Director - Electric Vehicles for Europe

Nissan in Europe announced a management change in Europe. Effective May 1, 2013, Jean Pierre Diernaz takes on the newly created position of Director - Electric Vehicles for Europe.

This restructuring within Nissan Europe underlines the importance Nissan
is placing on zero-emissions in order to further establish Nissan's leadership in the electric vehicle domain.

This management change comes in the same week that Nissan delivers the 10,000th Nissan Leaf sold in Europe and the launch of the second generation Leaf available across the region.

Jean Pierre Diernaz started his career in the automobile industry at Ford France in 1994. With a successful marketing and sales record behind him he joined Nissan Europe in June 2005 as Head of European Advertising and Media.

Jean Pierre Diernaz moved to General Manager, Marketing Communication, Nissan Europe in January 2007 responsible for increasing brand opinion and marketing efficiencies across Europe as well as contributing to the set up of the successful advertising case for Qashqai. In May 2010 he took the post of Marketing and Communication Director for Infiniti, the luxury brand of the Nissan Group with the objective of launching the brand in Europe and to boost market share and profit in the Middle East and Russia.

This new position created as part of Nissan's global focus and structure of electric vehicles will be important in the development of sales in Europe. Jean Pierre Diernaz will be behind the launch of the New Leaf produced in Europe and will develop the complete EV marketing proposition. Accompanying the anticipated sales growth of the Nissan Leaf the position will endeavor to steer the infrastructures as well as the eco system linked to E mobility across the region.

Jean Pierre's successor at Infiniti will be announced shortly.
