Tata Motors sold 41,734 vehicles in December 2014, up 10 per cent

Tata Motors' total sales (including exports) of Tata commercial and passenger vehicles in December 2014 were 41,734 vehicles, a growth of 10 per cent over 37,836 vehicles, sold in December 2013. The company's domestic sales of Tata commercial and
passenger vehicles for December 2014 were 37,776 vehicles, a growth of 8 per cent over 35,010 vehicles, sold in December 2013.

Cumulative sales (including exports) for the company for the fiscal are 362,995 vehicles, lower by 17 per cent over 435,079 vehicles, sold last year.

While market continues to remain challenged by macroeconomic trends, segments such as M&HCV showed a 62 per cent growth year-on-year. Other segments such as Passenger Cars continue to show positive growth of 52 per cent and Exports have grown in December 2014 by 40 per cent, over last year.

In December 2014, Tata Motors passenger vehicles recorded sales 12,040 vehicles, a growth of 30 per cent, compared to 9,272 vehicles, sold in December 2013.

The trend of growth in passenger vehicles continued - with the strong Zest and Nano sales. While the sales of the passenger cars in December 2014 were at 9,956 vehicles, higher by 52 per cent, over December 2013, the UV sales declined by 24 per cent at 2,084 vehicles, in December 2014.

Cumulative sales of all passenger vehicles in the domestic market for the fiscal are 92,227 vehicles, lower by 11 per cent over last year.

Sales of commercial vehicles in December '14 in the domestic market at 25,736 vehicles, remained flat. LCV sales were 13,298 vehicles, a decline of 26 per cent over December 2013, while M&HCV sales continued to show growth at 12,438 vehicles, which is higher by 62 per cent, over December 2013.

Cumulative sales of commercial vehicles in the domestic market for the fiscal was 234,142 vehicles, lower by 21 per cent over last year. Cumulative LCV sales was 145,425 vehicles, a decline of 32 per cent over last year, while M&HCV sales at 88,717 vehicles, were higher by 10 per cent, over last year.

Sales from exports were 3,958 vehicles in December 2014, grew by 40 per cent compared to 2,826 vehicles in December 2013. The cumulative sales from exports for the fiscal at 36,626 vehicles, grew marginally by 1 per cent, over last year.
