Ford China sells 30,000 vehicles in January

Due to reduced inventory levels and a shorter January sales month due to the Chinese Spring Festival holiday, Ford China maintained steady sales in January with 30,976 wholesale vehicles sold compared to 53,340 wholesale vehicles last year.

Ford China ended 2011
with strong sales which depleted inventories prior to January. Ford China sold 519,390 wholesale vehicles in 2011, a 7 per cent increase from 2010, and nearly 50,000 vehicles in December, 2011.

As part of its aggressive expansion in China and in order to increase capacity to meet demand, Ford and its joint-venture Changan Ford Mazda Automotive Ltd. (CFMA) are opening a new assembly plant in Chongqing in the first quarter. The new facility will build the all-new Ford Focus which has achieved record sales internationally.

In January, Ford's passenger vehicle joint-venture in China, Changan Ford Mazda Automobile (CFMA) sold 18,324 Ford-brand wholesale vehicles compared to 31,904 last year.

Ford's commercial vehicle investment in China, Jiangling Motors Corporation (JMC), sold 12,045 wholesale vehicles this month compared to 20,966 wholesale vehicles in January 2011.

Ford China remains on track for sustainable growth in 2012 and will introduce 15 new models to China by 2015, bringing Chinese consumers a wide range of high-quality, fuel-efficient, safe vehicles equipped with smart technology that they can both love and afford.
