Volvo Car Corporation welcomes Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao to Volvo headquarters in Gothenburg

Prime Minister Wen Jiabao of the People's Republic of China visited the Volvo Car Corporation facilities in Gothenburg, Sweden. Attending the Prime Minister's visit were, among others, Volvo Car Corporation CEO & President Stefan Jacoby and Volvo Car Corporation
Chairman of the Board Li Shufu. The visit was also attended by several representatives of the Swedish and Chinese governments, among which Swedish Enterprise Minister Annie Loof.

Prime Minister Wen arrived at the Volvo Cars Safety Centre at 8.30 CET this morning and witnessed a demonstration of a live crash test. Subsequently, he visited the final assembly line at the Gothenburg plant, where he spoke with a number of employees finalising the assembly of brand new Volvo cars. Prime Minister Wen and Stefan Jacoby then addressed the gathered employees and highlighted the strong bonds between Sweden and China, and Geely and Volvo Car Corporation in particular.

Commenting on Prime Minister Wen's visit, Stefan Jacoby said, "We were naturally deeply honored and very pleased to welcome Prime Minister Wen to the Gothenburg facilities and headquarters of Volvo Car Corporation. We hope we have been able to offer Prime Minister Wen a glimpse of what makes this company so unique - our leading position in safety, our loyal and talented workforce and our wide portfolio of truly premium cars."

"China is a major part of Volvo's ambitious future growth plans and the company has made tremendous progress there in recent years," Stefan Jacoby added. "Through our investments and growth in China, we have started to contribute to the Chinese economy in several ways. We also see that our investments in China have a positive effect on investments and job creation in Sweden, so it is a true win-win situation."
