Jaguar C-X16 Concept is honoured with Special Design Award at 2012 Auto Express Awards

The Jaguar C-X16 Concept has been recognised for its stunning design.

In a toughly contested category in this year's Auto Express New Car Awards, Jaguar's C-X16 Concept, originally unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2011, emerged as the clear winner.

"We knew what a fabulous design the C-X16 was from the moment the covers were taken off at the Frankfurt motor show last year. Now it's clear that our readers agree – the C-X16 was a clear winner in our poll. It's huge credit to Jaguar's design team and bodes well for the forthcoming F-Type, which the car previews," said Steve Fowler, Editor-in-Chief, Auto Express.

In April, Jaguar announced the C-X16 concept is to be brought to life in the form of an all-new sports car – the F-Type.

Adrian Hallmark, Global Brand Director, Jaguar Cars, said, "It is the positive reaction from the public to the C-X16 that has prompted the acceleration of the F-Type programme. This award highlights that the concept car delivers a desirable proposition to the market, a proposition we are developing and look forward to introducing to the world later in the year."

Ian Callum, Director of Design, Jaguar Cars added, "Recognition from the public is always a wonderful thing to receive. We are very encouraged that people have been so positive towards the design principles of the C-X16 and are confident this positivity will continue as we get closer to the F-Type being seen in its final form."
