Martin Brundle returns to race with Nissan at Silverstone

After making a successful return to world-class sportscar racing at the Le Mans 24 Hours last month, Martin Brundle will enter a second endurance race this year, alongside his son Alex and Nissan's first GT Academy winner, Lucas Ordonez.

The trio made
a formidable team at Le Mans so when the opportunity arose for Greaves Motorsport to run a second Nissan-powered LMP2 car at the FIA World Endurance Championship race at Silverstone in August, it was an easy decision to make.

"I thoroughly enjoyed the whole Le Mans 24 Hours adventure," said Martin. "So when I was asked to race the Greaves Zytek-Nissan on the spectacularly fast Silverstone GP circuit with Alex and Lucas, the answer was simply 'yes'. I'm looking forward to another race finish, hopefully on the podium."

Alex Brundle is right in the middle of a busy season of racing but has squeezed this extra event into his schedule. With dual campaigns in the European Le Mans Series and GP3, the young British racer is relishing having a packed diary.

"I am delighted to have the opportunity to race with Nissan and Greaves Motorsport again in the WEC," said Alex. "I will race at the British Grand Prix with the GP3 series and I feel comfortable and confident around the Silverstone circuit. I am really looking forward to a chance to explore the Greaves LMP2 around this special venue for a British driver."

Lucas Ordonez never thought he would have an ex-F1 driver as his team-mate, until he found out the line up for Le Mans this year.  He learnt a great deal from Martin during Le Mans week.

"At first when I heard I was driving with Martin I though 'wow' this will be amazing and I will learn a lot about racing technique," said Lucas. "I actually learnt a lot more than that as Martin is an incredibly professional driver in all areas. By watching him I have learned a lot about how to handle myself in this sport. I can't wait for Silverstone as we will be able to race without pressure and I think we should be able to get a good result there. I hope that after the race I will have a photograph of me on the podium with Martin and Alex. Thank you to Nissan for yet another great opportunity; this is turning into an amazing season!"

The scheduling of the FIA WEC race at Silverstone couldn't be better as it takes place during the F1 break on August 25-26.
