Management change at Volkswagen in South America

Dr. Viktor Klima has stepped down from his posts with the Volkswagen Group having reached the age of 65. Dr. Klima was President and CEO of Volkswagen Argentina S.A., a member of the Group Board of Management for the South America Region and General Representative
of Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft. Dr. Klima will continue to act as an advisor to the Group following his retirement. His successor as President of Volkswagen Argentina is Emilio Saenz (50). Saenz already took over as CEO of Volkswagen Argentina in November 2011.

Dr. Viktor Klima joined the Group in 2000 as President of Volkswagen Argentina S.A. He was appointed a member of the Group Board of Management for the South America Region and General Representative of Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft in 2006. Prior to moving to Volkswagen, Dr. Klima held several senior management positions with the Austrian company OMV AG from 1969. He was named Board member for Finance in 1990, and became a member of the Austrian government in 1992, first as Minister of Transportation and Economy, then as Minister of Finance. Dr. Klima was Chancellor of Austria from 1997 to 2000. Klima joined Volkswagen following his retirement from politics.

Emilio Saenz joined the Volkswagen Group in 1989 and began his career as assistant to the technical management at Seat. Following various positions in the Group he headed production at Volkswagen Autoeuropa from 2000, before becoming Chairman of the Board of Management and Plant Manager at Volkswagen Navarra in 2007. Saenz has been CEO and member of the Board of Management of Volkswagen Argentina since November 2011. He now also takes on the function of President of Volkswagen Argentina.
