Honda Donates 007's Skyfall motorbike to BBC Children In Need auction

Honda (UK) has donated an exclusive 'lot' to the hugely popular and invaluable BBC Children in Need annual fundraising auction - a motorbike which Daniel Craig rode in the thrilling opening chase sequence of the latest 007 adventure, Skyfall.

The modified Honda
CRF250R motorbike is now live as one of the top items in the auction, which allows bidders to buy amazing prizes and merchandise, whilst donating to the charity appeal.

Honda's CRF250R motorcycle proved to be the machine of choice by the 007 film's action vehicles and stunt crew team, for the opening scene filmed Istanbul and Adana, Turkey, earlier this year. The Honda and Skyfall partnership saw the motorbikes modified and customised into two Turkish guises - a 'police' bike and a 'street merchant's' bike - courtesy of Chris Corbould's award-winning Special Effects team. The Turkish 'street merchant's' bike was ridden by Daniel Craig in pursuit of film's henchman, Patrice (Ola Rapace) in the opening scenes of the blockbuster film.

Now, following Honda's donation to BBC Children in Need, millions of Bond fans will have the chance to own an actual 'street merchant' bike from the Skyfall set that Daniel Craig filmed with, whilst also contributing vital funds for such a worthy charitable cause. The auction will close to bidders at midnight on Thursday, November 22.

As such a unique auction lot and star attraction of the auction, Honda is hoping the bike will raise tens of thousands of pounds for BBC Children in Need, which campaigns to make a positive difference to the lives of disadvantaged children and young people in the UK. The auction is part of a series of activities, programmes and ongoing celebrity involvement to raise the profile of the important children's fundraising campaign.

"We are very pleased to be able to support BBC Children in Need and with such an exclusive, unique and exciting item. Original items such as this are usually highly sought after and with the Bond films having incredibly broad appeal, we hope that 007's 'street merchant' bike will raise a significant amount of money and awareness for such an invaluable cause. At Honda we like to look for innovative ways to raise money for charity and we are so pleased that our exciting association with Skyfall has enabled us to do this for BBC Children in Need," said Fiona Cole, Honda (UK) Corporate Communications Manager.
