New models drive Ford sales in Europe; Strengthens its No. 2 best-selling brand position

Ford extended its No. 2 best-selling brand position in Europe last month, driven by strong sales of new vehicle models such as the B-Max, Fiesta and Ranger. Ford also was Europe's No.2 brand for the first eleven months of this year.

Sales of the all-new B-Max reached 11,100 units
after only a few weeks on sale. Fiesta sold 25,300 units in November, and increase of 1,600 sales compared to November 2011, while Ranger sales at 1,600 units saw an increase of 67 per cent compared to the same month last year.

"November was marked by a strong sales momentum for many of our new vehicles, led by the all-new B-Max. Fiesta and Ranger," said Roelant de Waard, Vice-President, Marketing, Sales and Service, Ford of Europe.

"With the new Kuga and all-new Transit Custom we are currently launching more new and exciting models as part of our unprecedented drive to launch 15 global vehicles in Europe within the next three years. They are making their presence felt and drive Ford to having the freshest line up in the industry."

Ford's November share in its 19 traditional European markets was 7.8 per cent, the same as in November 2011. In the first eleven months of the year, Ford's market share was 7.9 per cent, down 0.4 percentage points on the same period 2011. The overall industry was down 11 per cent in November and 7.7 per cent year-to-date, and continues to track at its lowest level since 1995.

Ford sales in the UK increased by 5.8 per cent to 25,700 units, strengthening Ford's market leadership and confirming the UK to be Ford's largest European market by volume. Fiesta and Focus remain the industry's No. 1 and 2 best-sellers, respectively.

Germany remained Ford's second-largest market by volume in Europe, with a share of 6.5 per cent in November and 6.9 per cent year-to-date.

In Russia, Ford sales grew 11.3 per cent in the first eleven months of the year to 116,600 units, making it the third-largest market by volume for Ford in Europe so far this year, behind the UK and Germany.

Ford sales in Eastern Europe were up 2,100 units or 4.6 per cent at 46,800 year-to-date.
