Helping Ford Motor Company make the difference for Macmillan

Volvo Trucks, together with dealer MC Truck & Bus, car transporter manufacturer Transporter Engineering and vehicle livery specialist Sign-It, are doing their bit to help Ford Motor Company employees publicise their hugely successful fundraising activities
for the Macmillan Cancer Support charity.

The above companies have co sponsored the Macmillan support livery on one of the 17 latest Volvo FM tractor units to join the car manufacturer’s fleet of transporters.

Designed by Kevin Knight, Senior Supervisor, Ford Outbound Vehicle Logistics, the bright green livery has turned the car transporter into a highly visible, mobile fundraising advertisement for Macmillan Cancer Support. Panels on both sides of the cab list the sponsors’ names.

A long time and much valued Volvo customer, Ford Motor Company operate around 120 Volvo FM car transporters from their distribution sites around the UK. As part of a charity fundraising drive, employees at the car manufacturer have raised funds amounting to £140,000 for Macmillan through voluntary charitable donations from individuals.

The amount raised was significantly boosted as a result of large numbers of Ford Motor Company employees voluntarily donating an hour of their pay. In fact, it was their last hour’s pay of the year 2011.

In addition, employees at Dagenham organised coffee mornings to further add to the sum raised.

Ford Motor Company employees and partner suppliers also fundraise for several other deserving charities including Prostate Cancer, CLIC Sargent (helping children and young people with cancer) and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Each has their own transporter individually designed by Kevin, whose vision it was to utilise Ford’s transporters to benefit charities in this way. The next addition to the fleet, to be commissioned in the next few weeks will carry the Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital livery.
