Isuzu's Nikki King recognised with Spirit of everywoman Award

At National FTA everywoman in Transport & Logistics Awards, Isuzu Truck's Managing Director Nikki King OBE became the first recipient of the Spirit of everywoman Award in recognition of the significant contribution that she has made to the commercial vehicle
industry over the past 25 years.

Nikki King received the award from Karen Gill MBE and Maxine Benson MBE, Co-Founders of everywoman, in front of a packed audience at the Savoy Hotel in London.

"The inaugural Spirit of everywoman Award is given to an individual who, the awards panel believes, has made an outstanding contribution to the industry. Nikki's undoubted passion, dedication, determination and leadership style have not only made her an industry pioneer but also a role model for all women in business. Throughout her career she has always maintained that women have so much to offer the workplace, not least in the male dominated world of transport and logistics. As a leader, she has ensured that Isuzu Truck UK was always a business that fostered the talents of women," said Maxine Benson.

Nikki King is the first winner of the Spirit of everywoman Award at the FTA everywoman in Transport & Logistics Awards and this honour was bestowed on her alongside the annual eight awards given to the country's leading female role models in transport and logistics. everywoman created these awards six years ago, as they identified that a lack of female role models was deterring women from pursuing careers in this fast-moving, continually evolving sector.

"Nikki King is an extraordinary role model and visionary - a true inspiration to all. She was the first supporter and champion of the everywoman in Transport & Logistics Awards and has encouraged so many women to follow in her footsteps, truly putting a stake in the ground for all women in the industry, and beyond," added Benson.

"I am so shocked and honoured to receive this award, especially as I am the first recipient. It is totally unexpected. I feel I have been so lucky in my career to have had the support of great women - and men! - who have helped me to evolve Isuzu Truck UK into the successful company it has become in a very competitive marketplace. It is truly wonderful to receive this award and I also want to acknowledge that you cannot do this on your own. Over 40 per cent of our senior management team at Isuzu Truck UK are female and my brilliant team of customer liaison executives are all female. I am fortunate to be surrounded by a lot of talented women who love trucks as much as I do!" said Nikki King.
