Ford of Canada reports May as best month of sales in more than 15 years

Ford Motor Company of Canada, Limited, sales increased one per cent this month, seeing its best month of sales since 1997. The sales gains in May were driven by Fusion, up 29 per cent, Escape, up 22 per cent, and Explorer, up 10 per cent.

May was also powered by increases
in hybrid and plug-in hybrid vehicle sales. It was the best May on record for the Fusion Hybrid and Fusion Energi plug-in hybrid. It was also the best May on record for the Lincoln MKZ Hybrid, with sales up 20 per cent.

F-series, Canada's best-selling truck for 47 consecutive years, continues to deliver fuel-efficiency and performance, with sales gains fueled by F-150, which was up 20 per cent.

"Customers increasingly are buying Ford vehicles for their leading fuel economy, including 15 vehicles with fuel-sipping EcoBoost engines and five new electrified vehicles," said Dianne Craig, president and CEO, Ford of Canada. "Customers deserve the power of choice to find the vehicle that best suits their lifestyle - whether that's a fuel-efficient truck or plug-in hybrid car. We are proud and humbled that people are choosing Ford more often than any other automaker."
