Arwed Niestroj is the new CEO of Mercedes-Benz Research & Development North America, Inc.

There has been a change at the helm of Mercedes-Benz Research & Development North America (MBRDNA). The new CEO Arwed Niestroj assumed responsibility for MBRDNA's workforce of some 300 at the R&D bases in the USA.

Arwed Niestroj began his career
in 1995 at the company which at the time was operating under the name of Mercedes-Benz AG. In addition to holding various strategic posts and carrying out assignments in the field of Corporate Research, between 2007 and 2011 he worked in the area of the fuel cell and among other things was responsible for the 'F-Cell World Drive' - the first circumnavigation of the globe with fuel cell vehicles. Arwed Niestroj was most recently responsible for setting up EM-motive GmbH, a joint venture between Bosch and Daimler for which he was assigned management responsibilities.


Arwed Niestroj succeeds Johann Jungwirth, who had headed MBRDNA since 2009 and left the company at his own request.
