Suzuki reports strong progress around the world

Suzuki Motor Corporation continues to make strong progress around the world with total global car production reaching 2,857,000 units in the 2013 fiscal year. Overseas production accounted for 1,858,000 of the total which was an increase for the second consecutive year.

Global net sales for 2013 fiscal year across all products (Car, Motorcycle, ATV and Marine engines) were also up for the second consecutive year with an increase of 14 per cent and net sales in Japan increased by 8.8 per cent year on year. Worldwide profits were up too with net income increasing by more than 33 per cent to 107.5-billion Yen year-on-year, marking the highest ever figure for Suzuki.

Well known as the small car experts around the world, sales of Suzuki's 'Mini' or 'Kei' vehicles in Japan reached more than 647,000, achieving 110 per cent of sales target and an overall figure of 108 per cent across the entire range for the Japanese market, up for the third consecutive year.

Moving across to India, sales for Maruti Suzuki also increased with 90,560 units sold in the domestic market in just May 2014 alone plus a further 10,300 for export, an increase of more than 19 per cent. 

Back in the UK, sales have recently passed 16,400 units (January to May 2014) and are currently 17 per cent up year on year with Alto currently leading sales at 6,200 units with Swift not far behind at 4,500 units. The plan is to reach at least 34,000 by the end of the year, representing a further 3 per cent growth over 2013.
